Red Letter Christians Podcast
A Christian commentary on the way of Jesus in the world today with Red Letter Christian leaders Dr. Tony Campolo and Shane Claiborne. Red Letter Christians gets its name from the Bibles that highlight the words of Jesus in red and we are aspiring to live “as if Jesus meant the stuff he said.” Some episodes of this podcast have been adapted from the radio show “Across the Pond” which airs on Sunday afternoons in the UK on Premier Radio. Others are from events such as Faith Forums, Book Clubs, and Monthly Morning Prayer.

The Prophetic Imagination | Walter Brueggemann
Thursday Aug 18, 2022
Thursday Aug 18, 2022
Brueggemann’s primary method with the text is rhetorical criticism. Words matter to Brueggemann, and one can tell that by listening to him speak as he hangs on to particularly theologically significant words. His magnum opus, Theology of the Old Testament (1997), is a rhetorical-critical look at the Old Testament through the lenses of “testimony, dispute, and advocacy.”
Many have come to know Brueggemann through his book entitled The Prophetic Imagination, originally published in 1978.

The Corner of Praise + Protest | Common Hymnal
Monday Aug 08, 2022
Monday Aug 08, 2022
Shane Claiborne speaks with Seaux Chill and Vincent Charlow from Common Hymnal and what it means to make a difference as a Christian.
"Institutional Christianity is going through a great shaking. None of us know exactly what tomorrow holds, but one thing is sure - the church is changing. Escapism is being challenged by realism. Dualism by integration. Status quo by social activism. Judgmentalism by compassion. Exclusion by inclusion. Hierarchy by democratization. Colonization by the celebration of BIPOC leadership. In the process, praise and protest are becoming inextricably intertwined, and the spiritual underground is is giving us more and more clues as to what's around the corner." -- from https://commonhymnal.com/

Remembering Ron Sider | Christians for Social Action
Monday Aug 01, 2022
Monday Aug 01, 2022
In this special two-part episode, we are celebrating the life and work of long-time RLC friend, Ron Sider, by sharing two older episodes fro 2018 and 2019 combined here in one. Ron passed away last week. He was the founder of Christians For Social Action (formerly Evangelicals for Social Action), and author of about 50 books including “Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger” but most importantly, he was also a dear friend and part of RLC from the very beginning. We ask for you to keep Arbutus, his wife, and the rest of his family and friends in prayer during this time.

Waging Peace with Diana Oestreich, soldier turned peacemaker
Thursday Jul 28, 2022
Thursday Jul 28, 2022
"A beautiful and gut-wrenching memoir, Waging Peace exposes the false divide between loving our country and living out our faith's call to love our enemies--whether we perceive our enemy as the neighbor with an opposing political viewpoint, the clerk wearing a head-covering, or the refugee from a war-torn country. By showing that us-versus-them is a false choice, this book will inspire each of us to choose love over fear." - from https://www.dianaoestreich.com/waging-peace

This month's Book Club we have author of For Such a Time as This: Hope and Forgiveness after the Charleston Massacre, Sharon Risher.
"The instant her phone rang, Reverend Sharon Risher sensed something was horribly wrong. Something had happened at Emanuel AME Church, the church of her youth in Charleston, South Carolina, and she knew her mother was likely in the church at Bible study. Even before she heard the news, her chaplain's instinct told her the awful truth: her mother was dead, along with two cousins. What she couldn't imagine was that they had been murdered by a white supremacist. Plunged into the depths of mourning and anger and shock, Sharon could have wallowed in the pain. Instead, she chose the path of forgiveness and hope - eventually forgiving the convicted killer for his crime."

The RLC Podcast is back!
Since the inception of Red Letter Christians, we’ve collaborated with some great partnerships to get our message out. For several years, we had a television show. For over a decade, we’ve had a weekly radio show, “Across the Pond,” airing on Premier Radio in the United Kingdom. In 2020, both the pandemic and Tony’s stroke made it difficult to record new content, but we’ve got good news…new episodes can now be found each week online or on the radio in the UK! These shows along with content from RLC events and friends can also be found on the RLC podcast through iTunes. You can also find the video recordings for all events on YouTube.
