Red Letter Christians Podcast
A Christian commentary on the way of Jesus in the world today with Red Letter Christian leaders Dr. Tony Campolo and Shane Claiborne. Red Letter Christians gets its name from the Bibles that highlight the words of Jesus in red and we are aspiring to live “as if Jesus meant the stuff he said.” Some episodes of this podcast have been adapted from the radio show “Across the Pond” which airs on Sunday afternoons in the UK on Premier Radio. Others are from events such as Faith Forums, Book Clubs, and Monthly Morning Prayer.

’The Simple Way’ Celebrates 25 Years of Intention + Defiant Hope!
Monday Jan 09, 2023
Monday Jan 09, 2023
"IT ALL STARTED WHEN… in 1995, dozens of homeless families had moved into an abandoned Catholic church building in North Philadelphia. They were told by the Archdiocese that they had 48 hours to move out, or they could be arrested. With nowhere to go, these courageous mothers and children hung a banner on the front of the building that said, “How can we worship a homeless man on Sunday, and ignore one on Monday?” The families held their own press conference and announced that they had talked with the real “Owner” of the building (the Lord Almighty!) – and God said they could stay until they found somewhere else to go.
That was the spark that lit the fire of The Simple Way." from https://thesimpleway.org/

"Diana Butler Bass, Ph.D., is an award-winning author, popular speaker, inspiring preacher, and one of America’s most trusted commentators on religion and contemporary spirituality.
Diana’s passion is sharing great ideas to change lives and the world—a passion that ranges from informing the public about spiritual trends, challenging conventional narratives about religious practice, entering the fray of social media with spiritual wisdom and smart theology, and writing books to help readers see themselves, their place in history, and God differently. She does this with intelligence, joy, and a good dose of humor, leading well-known comedian John Fugelsang to dub her “iconic,” the late Marcus Borg to call her “spontaneous and always surprising,” and Glennon Doyle to praise her “razor-sharp mind” and “mystical heart.”" [from https://dianabutlerbass.com/]

In this special book club episode, guest host Diana Oestreich speaks with author Osheta Moore on her book Dear White Peacemakers.
"Dear White Peacemakers is a breakup letter to division, a love letter to God’s beloved community, and an eviction notice to the violent powers that have sustained racism for centuries. Race is one of the hardest topics to discuss in America. Many white Christians avoid talking about it altogether. But a commitment to peacemaking requires white people to step out of their comfort and privilege and into the work of anti-racism. Dear White Peacemakers is an invitation to white Christians to come to the table and join this hard work and holy calling. Rooted in the life, ministry, and teachings of Jesus, this book is a challenging call to transform white shame, fragility, saviorism, and privilege, in order to work together to build the Beloved Community as anti-racism peacemakers. Written in the wake of George Floyd’s death, Dear White Peacemakers draws on the Sermon on the Mount, Spirituals, and personal stories from author Osheta Moore’s work as a pastor in St. Paul, Minnesota. Enter into this story of shalom and join in the urgent work of anti-racism peacemaking." [from mennomedia.org]

In this episode, we discuss the book by Mark Charles and Soong-Chan Rah, Unsettling Truths: The Ongoing, Dehumanizing Legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery.
"Mark Charles is a dynamic and thought-provoking public speaker, writer, and consultant. He is one of the leading authorities on the 15th-century’s Doctrine of Discovery and its influence on US history and its intersection with modern-day society.
Soong-Chan Rah (ThD, Duke Divinity School) is Robert Munger Professor of Evangelism at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. Previously, he served as Milton B. Engebretson Professor of Church Growth and Evangelism at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. The RLC Podcast is back!
Since the inception of Red Letter Christians, we’ve collaborated with some great partnerships to get our message out. For several years, we had a television show. For over a decade, we’ve had a weekly radio show, “Across the Pond,” airing on Premier Radio in the United Kingdom. In 2020, both the pandemic and Tony’s stroke made it difficult to record new content, but we’ve got good news…new episodes can now be found each week online or on the radio in the UK! These shows along with content from RLC events and friends can also be found on the RLC podcast through iTunes. You can also find the video recordings for all events on YouTube.
